[JTND] A Teen Girl Arrested for Using Dating Site

The Tokyo Police arrested a 15-year-old girl for soliciting
Enjo-Kosai(Patronage Dating) using Deai-kei sites (dating sites). She
posted messages to a popular dating site in January from her home
asking 30,000 yen(U.S. $270) in exchange for a date.

It is the first time that Deai-Kei Site Regulation Law is applied to a
girl since the law took effect in last September.

The law prohibits the solicitation of sexual contact with the minors
under 18 years old using Deai-kei sites by anyone regardless of the
age. The violators can be fined up to 1 million yen (U.S. $9,100) or
sentenced to 6 months in prison.

[When her case is sent to a Family court, she is likely to get much
lighter punishment since she is a minor. I think the police just wants
to make her an example.--ed]

The operator of the web site who did not delete the postings by her is
also under investigation.
