[JTND] NTT Develops Firewall System to Fight DDoS Attacks

From Company News Release(Japanese):

NTT announced that its Information Sharing Laboratory Group has
developed Moving Firewall(MovingFW) system to protect the whole
network against DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service) attacks. When a
MovingFW device(Bridge) detects DDoS packets, it automatically begins
to cut off the attack packets and sends information and protection
software to the nearest MovingFW device on the network. This
coordinated defense is repeated upstream to the edges or the sources
of the attacks. According to NTT, by installing multiple firewall
devices on the network, MovingFW can keep the attack packets from
leaking to the backbones and make the Internet less susceptible to
large-scale network trouble.

[It sounds good, but I have not seen the demo of prototype system. It
seems that to make MovingFW work well, you and your network neighbors
have to buy a lot of the devices from NTT. If you are interested, read
English release for more technical detail when it becomes
available. --Naoki]
