[JTND] More on Banks Illegally Use National ID As Identification

Additional fact has been revealed in the Diet session yesterday.

Japanese Bankers Association consulted with Financial Services Agency
in advance regarding the use of National ID number as an
identification. It showed that even in the government, there was a
discord between Financial Services Agency and the Ministry of Public
Management, Home Affairs, Post and Telecommunications in the
interpretation of the law.

Katayama, the minister of Public Management... stated in the Budget
Committee that he felt the law could have been violated. Although
there's no report of banks' using the National ID, he asked the
association to stop the use anyway.

[If those elite bureaucrats have hard time understanding the National
ID rules, I guess it is natural for the public to fear abuse. --Naoki]
