[JTND] List Announcement

Japan Tech News Digest(JTND) is the moderated mailing list of
technology news and critique from Japan. Topics include the Internet,
technology business, wireless communication, privacy, law, government
and more. 

I see the news from Japan are often misunderstood or distorted in the
foreign press reports. I realize that there are only a few news
sources for non-Japanese speaking technology professionals and
journalists depend on. Furthermore, those limited sources
sometimes have hidden agendas to advance certain interests in Japan or
abroad. They don't represent Japan as seen by the ordinary people
working and living in the country.

Japan Tech News Digest is a small experiment to offer technology news
from Japan by the eyes of ordinary Japanese in English. I try my best
to add context and background to our reports, so that non-Japanese
readers understand the news from Japan better. My goal is to make this
list a forum discuss information technology and all the related social
and cultural phenomenon in Japan.

The bulk of contents in Japan Tech News Digest will be a short summary
of what our contributors and I gather from the Internet, TV, radio,
and the traditional print media. I write comments and analysis on the
important topics and issues from time to time.

Subscription is free. I welcome your participation and contribution to
